Just traded in my 2012 Five this weekend for the base (Blizzard Pearl) PIP.... Haven't had much chance to go through the PIP manual yet- but one thing I'm unclear about is the 'end of trip data' displayed on the dash when you power off the car. On the Five it would tell you your miles driven, mpg, and fuel cost for that particular trip. It was very handy cause it told you exactly how much it cost for fuel for your last trip. On the PIP dash display this morning after driving to work (28mi) it showed no useful data, I think cons was 9999, 0 mi driven, and some other figure? I did set the time and date on Saturday, I didn't see any place to set the current fuel cost per gallon? I appreciate any help... Rob
There's a new variable to the fuel cost equation which Toyota didn't factor in: KWH. So your fuel cost per gallon would be skewed.
Well the car certainly knows how much gasoline it burned during the trip regardless if EV mode was used. I drove 28mi this morning to work- after EV mode depleted the battery- gasoline was consumed. Is there some kind of consumption data that's supposed to be displayed at the end of a trip when you turn the car off? There should be at least 'miles driven' displayed not "0"? Is there something I have to set somewhere? Thanks...
mine shows all the values except cost, i haven't looked at that yet. you shouldn't have to do anything to get miles driven and mpg's. i rarely look at it, does it show kwh?
Thanks! Drove Sat and Sunday- all on electric.... love it! Just have to figure out a few items that are different on the PIP display compared to the regular Pri...
There shouldn't be anything you have to set. If you want to clear out Trips A and B, you hold down the trip button when that trip is being displayed, same thing for EV ration 1&2. But the trip summary should automatically reset each time. If I had to guess, I would say you accidentally restarted the car when you thought you were turning it off, and then turned it off again, so the trip summary reset itself. If thats not the case reset both trips A and B and EV ratio 1&2. Technically that shouldn't fix anything, but maybe it will? Here is my output.
Thanks Adam! I had to think back a bit... but I believe I probably turned off the car when I arrived at the ChargePoint station this morning- only to find out I needed one of their cards to unlock the (free) charging station. Since I didn't have one of the ChargePoint cards- I got back in the car and drove the couple of hundred feet to my usual parking spot- that's probably why the time & distance was 0 and the cons was 9999 because I was in HV mode to cross the parking lot. Thanks much for solving the puzzle. FWIW- I called Chargepoint and they're sending me a card for the free station across from my building- they said I can call their 800 number tomorrow morning and they'll remotely unlock the station for me as many times as I need until my card arrives. Not bad for a free service!
Did you have to pay for the card? I tried signing up in case I find a free station, but they wanted $4/card iirc.
i guess there is no cost analysis. not hard to figure out tho. if you put you #'s in the pip spreadsheet, it gives you cents/mile.
I tried to sign up on the website and they wanted $4.95 or a $25 deposit for charging stations, which isn't economical in the prius to pay $1/hr when you get 50mpg. Maybe if you were going to pay for parking anyway and the EV parking space is free, I will try to call and get that deal, thanks for letting us know about it! How about Blink Network, they don't have any free stations do they? (In Los Angeles)
