The Obama Climate Change Policy Revs up in State of the Union Speech Strange he didn't talk about grandfathering or increased EPA enforcement for power plant regulation, which are big generators of ghg.
Here is some discussion with statistics...89% of democrats support action now on climate change; 61% of independents; 38% of repubs. Obama Climate Change Poll Finds Majority Supports 'Significant Steps' To Tackle Problem This post is not intended to suggest I endorse whatever action may or may not be coming down the pike.
Once the seed takes root among the larger population thinking government can do more (or should do more) than an individual to solve our pollution problems, then we are screwed. Here is my master plan: 1) Use less gas 2) Use less electricity 3) Throw less stuff away (Usually by NOT buying stuff that ends up being thrown away) 4) Use less Chemicals (e.g. I clean the Prius with one bucket of water and a ragged towel. The 2001 is still shiny.) 5) Combine exercise with productive tasks 6) Less Junk Food Strangely, my standard of living has gone up. The ripple effects include: 1) More money for retirement 2) Less sneezing and other side effects of using water for cleaning 3) More free time 4) The realization that a LOT more can still be done on may part. 5) Feel better Now when I look at the National Government's "significant steps", I can look forward to: 1) Higher gas prices 2) Higher electricity prices 3) Higher food prices 4) Higher medical costs 5) Less jobs I'll bet the steps will be well intentioned, sound great, and backfire completely.
