A demonstration of how the Airlift tool spares you from the hassle of burping the system and attaching a hose to the top air vent on the engine. Done on a 2010 Prius but it applies across the board.
Good video! The AirLift is a real time-saver and takes the pain out of changing the coolant, making it a simple drain, pull a vacuum and refill. Thanks
He says near the end he put 4690 (grams or cc's) in. Maybe he just drained the radiator, not the block? Repair Manual shows "capacity" significantly more. It doesn't specify if that's what go in on a brand new, empty system, or typical refill during maintenance:
I used about 1.75 gallons when changing out the Engine and Inverter coolant. I was not concerned about measuring mine. I knew that I was not going to be able to drain all of the old so as long as the levels in the reservoirs returned to the full lines I was OK. I even removed the engine drain plug. After using the AirLift device I think I may have added a couple of ounces after driving to work.
