Engine is rough when trying to start

    Ok, my 2006 Prius went into safety mode while on the highway. (about 70). It has done this a few times as I have ordered a new battery but have not installed it yet. Well, something in the engine broke and now wont stay on and shakes badly. A mechanic friend thinks that the timing skipped or broke. I can't seem to find an example online of what it might be.

    Any ideas what to start with checking?
