Hello all, I have a 06 Prius with 330k+ miles on her. I'm starting have 2 issues that may be tied to each other. 1st: The gas bladder will not let me fill more the a few seconds at a time. If I slowly pour gas in I can get about 1.5 gal. 2nd: cylinders 1 2 3 are misfiring to the point it shakes the whole car. This happens when in park and hybrid battery is charging in idle. When driving and the battery is charging I can feel the shaking, but it is not as bad. When it ideal in natural there is little noise. Could this be a a gap issue, or should I look at fuel tank replacement? Thanks
1a. Try another gasoline station to see if it helps to use a different style of fuel pump nozzle. 1b. Try holding the fuel pump nozzle upside down to see if that makes any difference. 2. When was the last time the iridium spark plugs were replaced? If not within the last 100K miles, start by replacing them with the correct NGK or Denso iridium plugs.
Could it be water in your cowel clogging and dripping into your engine? I've seen that happen to a prius before. After cleaning the cowel, the drain hole, and replacing the spark plugs, all was well after. I guess ymmv though
Thank you for the reply. I've tried #1, I'll see if #2 works. It has been over 100k miles since plugs were done. I'll try that.
After trying the upside down nozzle, and replacing all 4 spark plugs. I am please to say that she is running in great shape. Next project is fixing the combination meter.
