After all this time almost entirely on EV (other than a couple of road trips), I had to burn some gas today -- perhaps a little over a gallon. 3/16 tank now. I'm happy to report that it's really weird to hear the engine whirring, and that I'd forgotten what a P.Prime engine sounds like! iPhone ? Pro
Next time you plug in, take a look over on the left-rear fender of your 'Prime: There's something that looks like a second charge-port door over there! This one's different though: Instead of plugging in, you put a stinky, poisonous, flammable, carcinogenic liquid into that left-side charge port. That stuff is called "gas," even though it's a liquid. Maybe it's made from intestinal gas, and that's why it stinks so much... Little-known fact: the 'Prime has a bulky, complicated, noisy, heavy, and maintenance-intensive machine in the front that burns gas! The resulting smoke stinks a lot less, so I guess it must be there to make this dreadful-smelling liquid less stinky. You can buy this "gas" at most convenience stores. It's sold outside in dank, dangerous corners where creepy strangers hang out at night. iPhone ? Pro
This all helps. I found some sort of doorway or panel on the back left fender of my car. If that isn't for charging when my car is in my driveway the other way around, then I guess it might be for this gas stuff. I'll be darned if I can figure out how to open that little hatch. I've tried pounding on it. Nothing.
As I described earlier, I think it's a setup to make gasoline less stinky. Probably just as a community service. There's a complex machine under the hood for that purpose, it appears... iPhone ? Pro
Found it! It is actually in the owner's manual. Reading is hard! So it turns out there is a button on the bottom left of the dash that, when pushed, opens the hatch on the back left fender. Says that's where the gasoline goes in, and to not overfill it. I don't know if, or when I might need to open it up, but the owner's manual covers that too. When the little yellow line is short to the left, it needs gas. I covered the button up with some black gaffer's tape, just for good measure. Stupid button!
Are you sure it's not a speed brake for dive-bombing runs? https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Ffarm9.staticflickr.com%2F8671%2F15349169153_18d69a7e20_b.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpicssr.com%2Ftags%2Fspeedbrake&docid=XuJAuAd5NgcuJM&tbnid=AfN6O6EpQpmZeM%3A&vet=10ahUKEwiO38qu87XVAhVMTSYKHXEMBF8QMwg9KAUwBQ..i&w=1024&h=683&hl=en-us&client=safari&bih=628&biw=414&q=speed%20brake%20on%20f86&ved=0ahUKEwiO38qu87XVAhVMTSYKHXEMBF8QMwg9KAUwBQ&iact=mrc&uact=8 iPhone ?
