Hello everyone I know the chicken dance process is all over this form but I am having and issue i can not seem to resolve.

I just purchased a used 09 Prius and it only came with one key. I assume this key is aftermarket because it has no Toyota logo on it at all. It works with the smart key functionality of the car but I can not seem to use it to put the car in programming mode using the chicken dance.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to enter programming mode with an aftermarket key or would it have to be an original factory key?

    Thanks so much!

Probably a key fob that someone's change the plastic on It doesn't come with the logo I reuse my logo back on the replacement plastic cases I buy online so I always have my silver logo attached to the new replacement plastic so I have a bunch of clear black backs that have never been installed that have no logo black or silver no matter so maybe the key is proper and original it's just been re-cased does the physical key work in the physical tumbler lock on the driver door?.

It is possible that you received a fob with a new shell and the original parts put in it. Maybe they forgot to move over the RFID chip.

Does the key start the car if it is inserted in the slot?
