A month ago, I shifted my work hours to 6AM-2PM. After I get home and take care of chores, I take a nap. So I woke up thinking about a work problem. The clocks said 6:55 and with the light outside, I thought I'd overslept:

Oh SH*T! I rushed the trash bin to the street; started getting ready and; my wife asked 'Where are you going?'

    "Work", I said.

"At this time in the evening?" . . . and when I couldn't find the morning news programs on TV, I finally realized the cloud cover had hidden where the sun light was coming from and it was actually near sunset.

Only around equanox can the morning and evening light and clocks be ambiguous.

Know what ya mean. On my third week of day shift after almost 20 years of graveyard. Sleep is a wonderful thing.

I always thought that siestas were one thing that folks on the other side of the pond get right.

Unfortunately, I'm currently working days (0800-1700) and because I'm "represented" by a union I cannot avail myself of a non-traditional shift that would allow a nice two hour siesta.
