I have been getting this code 1150 blockage in heat recovery system found the auxiliary pump defective replaced it would not run with external power applied. Any info or thoughts as to where this problem may be would be appreciated thanks for your help Ed Daspit
The Coolant Heat Storage system pumps hot coolant into a thermos tank when you turn the car off. The tank holds heat for up to 3 days. When you start the car, hot coolant is pumped back into the engine to reduce warmup time (and reduce tailpipe emissions). Does your scantool let you monitor CHS temperature (might be called water outlet temperature)? Does the CHS pump run for around 5 seconds after turning the car off? The next morning, power up to "ignition on" (power button x2, foot not on the brake). Turn the A/C blower off. Connect your scantool and monitor CHS and ECT (coolant temperature) - both should read near ambient. Now power up to ready. Does the CHS pump run for around 5 seconds before the ICE starts? If the pump runs, you should see CHS and ECT both increase by about 100° then go down slightly. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
