I need assitance on the following diagnostic report. My prius shows:- 1. Red triangle with exclamation mark, 2. On the LCD red car with exclamation mark, 3. ABS sign - on and off. I run a diagnostics kit and the report was as follows: P3001 Battery ECU abnormality P3009 High Voltage Power Short Circuit P3000 Battery control system abnormality p3004 High Voltage cable is faulty P3140 HV interlock sw short/open If anyone can assist will really appreciate. Regards, Year 2001 prius owner
Start with P3140. There is an orange, safety interlock in the battery. Make sure it is in the down and locked position. This closes a microswitch that passes a signal from the inverter, through the switch, and to the HV ECU. P3009 and P3004 indicate the ground-fault detection circuit has gone off. It could be a bad cable but I would not rule out a failed module that has a resistance leak to the battery case. Was the weather unusually humid just before this happened? If you have a failing module, the leaked KOH can on a humid day trigger similar faults. Bob Wilson
