We've had some 95-100 deg. days lately. I've noticed that EV mode is unavailable even when the battery is near full. Is this normal?

Yes, if the HV battery temp is above a certain high level it will disable EV mode, among several other criteria.

It has been in the upper 90's here for the past couple ow weeks, and my mileage has really dropped. I am struggling to get it to 40 right now.

I have experienced same drop in mileage in extreme heat as in extreme cold; mostly short trip city driving. 38-42mpg. But when temps moderate, good mileage returns to be the norm for me.

Short trips with a lot of AC use hurts mpg but safety and comfort trump mpg. You're still getting excellent mpg compared to other vehicles in the same driving conditions. :)

As others have indicated, this is normal. I'm not saying we enjoy the drop in mileage, but this is normal.

Yeah this drop in MPG SUCKS!!!! I live in South Florida, Fort Lauderdale actually, and it's so damn hot and muggy year-round. BUT, for the past few weeks it has been unbearable especially with the humidity.
I usually average 48-52 MPG and that is with using the air conditioning on Auto Mode with the car in Eco Mode...because of the heat and humidity, I have been keeping the air on Max full blast.
If I am the only one in the car, I will close the passengers vent and then put all the vents towards me, usually that works good enough to where I can put the air conditioning back in Auto Mode, trying to save as much gas as possible without having to sweat to death
