Periodically I experience much greater than the usual 22 miles on a charge. the other day in 15 degree weather with hilly driving I got 35 miles. I am concerned that something is not working right. this additional mileage has happened twice before, my car is 3 months old.
Maybe he has both. I currently have three prius' in the driveway...The prime, a 2010 that my daughter drives and an old 2008 that I adopted as a spare for emergencies. Not planning on changing my profile each time I post about a different car.
is it possible that the engine is coming on, and you can't hear it? are you resetting a trip meter and checking mpg or ev/hv %?
Did the route have a net elevation loss? Was there a tailwind or tail-breeze? Was the average speed slower, or have fewer stoplights? Was the road dry (vs. wet on previous trips)? Was the route on smoother pavement? Many things can increase or decrease MPG and MPGe.
That seasonal drop, then jump, is what Prius owners have been experiencing for decades. For that matter, it's the same thing with traditional vehicles... only most people never noticed. Having a screen with MPG raises awareness.
