Excellent article on Biofuels and Armageddon. Armageddon? What? Reading between the lines ... remember what happened to gasoline prices when Hurricane Katrina hit? Remember the $6.00 gasoline when the rest of the country was at $2.50? So, if a major hurricane hits now, not only will it shut down oil rigs and refineries, destroy the economy along the Gulf Coast, and destroy biofuel crops, and cause the global price of crude oil to skyrocket, but it will cause chaos and panic. The article does not say that directly, but it hints at the possibility. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/01/business/01weather.html
I also remember the oil embargo. This was far more severe than what is described above in terms of oil shortages. I do not remember much chaos and panic, just a lot of lifestyle changes to adapt to the situation.
