that thing is uge! even when deflated. what we need is a wheel that folds flat when not in use, to go along with the inflatable tyre.
Obviously, a Prius would not use a tire that big. Still, there's no good place I can think of for stowing it in a Prime or a PiP. I agree that it's better than no spare. Assuming you can inflate it with the little mini pumps carried by most of us have who don't have spares. Looks to me like a step in the right direction.
It's not that much more compact, and perhaps more problematic? You need to take a long a compressor, and deflate it after use? Nah, thumbs down That won't stop 'em though.
This is common for large spares (18’+) but for smaller wheels the trend still seems to be the thin temporary spare. That’s what I have found in my travels around the car garages in the last few months. iPhone ?
I wonder if the Gen4 mini-spare is thinner than Gen2/3? I could see that as a area Toyota might have improved to go along with the lowerd hatch top.
Yeah those vehicles with larger wheels will like this solution over carrying a full size spare tire. Compact (temporary) spares might not work for vehicles that heavy.
especially if they come with a woofer. i'm imagining a bicycle wheel and tire that would somehow work with the weight and disc brake assembly.
