I have not seen a thread similar to this so... In SoCal I am putting together a 2010 Prius to take all over the country. Please share your plans to make your prius more than a people mover. Here is my mod list thus far: - Thule roof rack / rooftop cargo box / transporter hitch box - better suspension to carry 100lbs on the roof and 130lbs on the hitch. - Android radio with front / reverse camera / obd2 / bluetooth speaker phone - custom window shades: I plan to make a fitted net with strong magnets to keep the mosquitos out and air flow. - Dash cam - I got one that has a rear camera and records to a chip and can upload to cloud. - custom collapsable bed and table - I bought a battery powered inverter that charges / powers all my toys. I can get solar panels to charge it but it will charge from the prius 12v socket for now. Space is a premium so the rear seats have been removed. I'm planning to use some light weight panels to create a low profile bench seat just to protect the traction battery.
The Hybrid Highlander and Rav4 can carry such loads. The Prius is rated to tow 0 pounds and the total passenger and cargo weight is 825 pounds.
