Hi Prius Owners: I recently purchased my Prius and did not get an extended warranty. The reason for this is that I've had two other Toyotas with extended warranties and never once needed to use them. Of course the dealer finance guy painted a very creative "what if" scenerio of potential costs. What do other owners think about extending the warranty? Do you think it is necessary over the base warranty? I don't drive to work, so my annual mileage is pretty low. I'm pretty sure there is more than one source for warranty extensions. Are some better than others? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Eric B Chicago
Extended warranties are insurance, priced to make a profit for the seller and not for the buyer. Take the price of the warranty and make a profit from it by paying down other debt, putting it in a savings account, buying a certificate of deposit, or investing it.
