Here is the result of using a Rare Earth Magnet on the end of the oil filter until the first oil change. There wasn't any metal filings/wear metal on the oil pan plug as someone had earlier suggested that it may have some magnetism built in. I ran my finger thru the slurry and could feel the fine metal pieces. I will continue to use the magnet on each change of the filter. Mine is about the size of a quarter and was purchased from Leevalley. Charlie
