I just took my first long (1200 miles, 5 days) trip in my Prius; 400 miles with 2 people + luggage, 800 miles with 4 people + luggage. Got 49 MPG even going up and down mountains in Pennsylvania. Very pleased that my back (with 2 hernaited disks) felt great after the trip. We went through sun, rain, snow, slush and 50 MPH winds - the only problem was playing back some MP3 CDs I burned for the trip. I guess it's a keeper!
