The car: 2014 Prius gen III trim level five. The trips: 50.4 mpg highway (took a long trip from Santa Rosa to San Jose after buying the car). Abysmal weather with pounding rain and wind. Very impressed as this was with normal driving technique. 47.4 mpg San Jose to Napa. Tried some pulse glide stuff on this trip, probably too slow on my acceleration so I didn't do too well. 50.9 mpg Napa to San Jose, normal driving style with rain and wet pavement for most of the trip. 37 mpg to the store (about six miles) normal in town driving. 54.9 mpg on the way home. Used pulse glide for about half the trip and it seemed to pay off. Pretty happy with results so far. Can't wait to see the numbers after the break in period and honing my pulse glide skeelz! Seems that in town mileage is more dependant on driving style while the car easily tops the 50 mark on the highway with Mr. Lead foot at the wheel.
Sounds GREAT!! Welcome to PriusChat !! I always check my MPG from fill-up to fill-up, on level ground. The on-board read-out is off a little bit; too many variables. I'm sure you will love passing up those gas stations!!
