I know the spare is gone and the cargo area is bigger. Does that mean there is a step up when the seat backs are folded flat? I haven't been able to find this by searching. I do so wish a flat floor for a couple of reasons. It's simple enough to deal with but I want to know upfront.
Yes. Someone recently got the spare and under-floor foam from a three and got it put into a four, giving them a flat floor. So those parts are at least interchangeable.
I raised the floor of my cargo area about 3 inches with provided me with some shallow storage and a flat floor. I used firm foam that I cut out to fit the space.
It is actually a really nice way to use that space like in the Gen3. But I have to admit I realised I was putting in there a lot of stuff I never used. Actually 8kg of it (more about it here). And now I have a few things I really need in a foldable plastic crate that also helps keeping things in place like grocery and it is fixed in place with a hooked elastic rope.
