I bought all-weather mats for my Gen III, and no longer need my front carpet mats. One of my daughters has a Gen II. Will my Gen III front carpet mats fit a Gen II?
You do know that putting in the wrong floor mats cost a California Patrolman and his family their lives, right? http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local-beat/Deadly-Accident-Prompts-Floor-Mat-Warning-59394687.html
No, they don't fit but they may be close enough. If you put them on the floor I don't believe they will interfere with the pedals.
JimN Thanks for the reply. My daughter lives 50 miles away, and I just wanted to know if it was worth a try to get her my mats.
The key issue is the driver's front carpet mat. From my experience, the important thing is that the grommet holes which let the mat clip to the floor are in different places on Gen II vs Gen III. I wouldn't rely soely on the bottom of the mat to keep it in place. To use the driver's front, were it me, I'd at least stop at a hardware store to buy some grommets, cut a hole in the mat where the Gen II's clips are, and install the grommets there so they can anchor the mat. It leaves the original anchor grommets sit there unused, and the new grommets fit the clips to anchor the mat.
