YEA ! ! - Look at Ford . . . . lighting a fire under the feet of the Prius lineup ... Ford Escape Energi Plug-In Hybrid Caught Testing - Spy Photos the race is on . . . . .
anyone who has waited for the Outlander phev has been caught in the "Charlie Brown/Lucy hold the football" scenario, where year after year they promise - only to consistently NEVER deliver. What's it been - 3? - 4 years now? It cells like gangbusters in Asian & EU markets, but "goose egg" in the US. That's how they are before they get your money, I'd hate to think what it would be like afterwards. Service? Many have suggested Mitsu is eventually going to pull out of the US market. Bur as for a RAV4 Prime? Many would wait for that in a heartbeat. .
Mitsubishi likely won't pull out of North America at this point. their prospects have turned around, but it just isn't a market they focus on. http://www.autonews.com/article/20170108/BLOG06/170109862/whats-next-for-mitsubishi-in-the-u.s.-now-that-nissan-is-in-control%3F The Outlander PHEV may still arrive, but then they are just happy selling what they make in other markets.
Also, Mitsubishi is going to focus on the SUV market so their cars are going to the wayside (no Lancer, Galant or Diamante.... but may see the return of the Pajero... hopefully not the Endeavor)
Diamante for sure. I thought the Galant soldiered on until recently. (at least late 2000s.... I thought maybe early 2010s?)
Whoa, it appears to have made it to 2012. I must have visited the Mitsubishi site right after it left, or it got moved to fleet sales. That generation marched on for 9 years. Meh Car Monday: The Last Mitsubishi Galant
9 years... yeah I remember that generation. It really wasn't competitive on any level and (sorry to anybody who owned the last generation), it really was good for fleet only. The previous one to that (90s to early 2000s?) was good, in my opinion. Decently stylish compared to the Camry (though I'd give a slight advantage to the Accord in that era). The mid 90s Lancer is my favourite (and I just found out it was based on the Mirage.... well it was called the Mirage in the US)
A co-worker bought one under that zero interest and no payments for a year program. I think it was just before the last generation came out. Last I heard, he got it lemoned lawed after the engine block cracked.
Wow! A PHEV that doesn't look like a failed origami art project???? I'll be looking into one of those when/if they come out.
i kinda like the looks of crab mandibles on the front of a car. Reminds me of the Sentinels in The Matrix movie. .
Aiye. That sucks. Guess even among Japanese manufacturers, there are still some that aren't quite there yet. Seems like Mitsu now is focusing on SUVs and Mazda is trying to target the "premium non-luxury" market (my words)... that leaves Toyota, Honda and Nissan to battle it out in the regular segment.
