I was at an EV/renewable energy seminar at Cobb EMC in Marietta, GA, and they unveiled a rate tier for time of use that will essentially provides FREE EV charging between midnight and 6 a.m. As I understood talking with the board chairman, the smart meters would tell the utility when the EV was charging. btw, we currently pay about $0.11/kwh after taxes. So they're willing to give away a few dollars worth of juice to help shift electricity usage to off-peak times.
How will that be offered, using a sub-meter or an entirely separate line? And who pays for it? I have a sub-meter and got a $500 rebate for installing it from my electric company.
Some day I hope they build roads in Indiana, after all it is the home of Studebaker the makers of the Conestoga Wagon.
Wow! Lucky you!!! This is our current rate plan! Time-Of-Use Residential Rate Plans | Rates | Your Home | Home - SCE Before we got solar on avg for 1 yr. we were paying $0.28/kWh!
That’s even better! The best I could sort out for overnight use is $0.12/kWh. SCE recommended/pushed us from net metering to TOU this last January. (You bet things got bad when the main solar array went down, failed inverter, last year in the summer).... Nice website! Thanks for sharing.
