I'm considering removable rack options for roof-hauling longer pieces of lumber/construction materials now and then. What are the options for tying down a load to the front of the PiP? I've seen some posts from folks hailing kayaks, etc. where this has been done (Gen IIs I think) that talk about some tie-downs under the front of the vehicle, but I sure can't see any. There is a black plastic scuff-plate (?) that is covering much of everything under the front nose...perhaps they are under that and folks removed that?

Does the PiP have the same front bolt holes (behind by a rectangular trim cover) that the other cars have? This is for securing the car during its initial Pacific cruise from the factory, but you can re-use them any way you wish.

Here is one of many threads: Does anyone know....

Hey thanks. I also found a short video from a dealer showing the eyelet installation (for the V but it looks like the same for the PiP)...like many others I assume I wondered what those little rectangular pieces were for :)

Does anyone know whether the eyebolt that comes with the vehicle gives you enough "extension" to keep your cord, strap, etc. from rubbing on the bumper/front edge of the hood?
