Last week , I changed the front wheels brake pads and had the mechanic rotating the wheels ( putting the front back and vise versa ) . ever since I had this oscillating noise and vibration when driving at 30-40 km/ hour (20-25 mph) when I speed up the noise change into a high roar without vibration >> Any help is greatly appreciated > My prius is V gen 3 model 2010 and I live in Jordan ( middle east ) .
A wheel weight fell off in the process? Another thing that can happen: some grit gets between the wheel and the hub when reinstalling, causes poor seating. If there was grit, and it's since shattered fallen, then fallen out, you might notice loose lug nut: check see if any seem loose?
i would jack her up and spin the front wheels by hand. be careful, you have to make her ready and put in neutral. could be bearings, pads, velocity joints. maybe something caught between a pad and rotor?
Today I took her to the mechanic and did as you said , he jack her up and run her on D for several minutes , the noise disappeared , he suggested an uneven wear on the tread may be the cause . could it be true?
I am having the same issue, when my tires were rotated at 25k it started and when I had them rotated at 30k the sound switched from the front to the rear. I am hoping it is tires and I should be ready to replace them in the next 5000 miles.
My tire are in very good condition , they have about 3mm deep tread , They are Goodyear viva2 model and I,ve heard a lot of complaints about these model.. Is there anybody who use these tires ? I would like to see if it's a common complaint .
That's getting pretty low, if accurate: 3mm is a little under 4/32", maybe time for new tires. You might check the manufacture date of the tires too: Tire Tech Information - Determining the Age of a Tire As an example: we purchased our 2010 in November of that year, but it was built in August of 2009, and the tires were manufactured in the 5th week of 2009, ie: February, 2009. With any tire around 5~6 years old you need to keep an eye on them, check for cracking. Garage stored vs parked in the elements can make a difference too.
