One of the frustrating things with this PIP forum is the lack of any technical information. Perhaps because the PIP is so seemingly faultless there is nothing to respond to. One of the things I liked about the Gen 2 forum was the depth of knowledge and the excellent advice give by many interested hobbyist.
Maybe it is a sign that the Prius is so mainstream... I'm not sure thought what is fustrating about it. Mike
Most of your technical information is in the Prius GenIII forums... The PIP is built off of that design, so other than technical details related to plugging your car in and a difference in the electric part of the drivetrain, your car is pretty much the same car as a GenIII.
All posts are true, there is just something different about the Pip forum. Maybe because of NO problems related to the Pip, there is nobody out there to help. No overheated inverters, no run down 12V batteries, etc. I have to snoop around Gen 2 forum just to feel at home. Even Gen 3 forum is a little strange, they have problems I can't relate to. There aren't even any Fob battery problems! It's so frustrating.
Technically, we are the early adopters. We have to become experts to help and answer the newbies out. I am not sure when you bought your first Prius but mine was 2006 model. That was the 2nd generation and a mid-cycle refreshed model. I wasn't an early adopter for sure. With PiP, I find myself as an early adopter and I agree with you that it feels strange. We gotta rely on ourselves and figure out what works best and what doesn't. We also get to coin new terms as see fit. So feel free and make your mark. We have an opportunity.
...after you get a few skeeter splats and and a few recalls, you can talk about how to clean off skeeter splats and how to deal with recalls...in the meantime ENJOY.
There just isn't enough experience base yet to produce a large body of PiP-specific matter. How much of the non-PiP technical information here do you believe was available after the very first year of Gen1 Prius ownership more than a decade ago? I suspect comparatively little.
I bought my Gen II on Dec 28, 2004. ( a 2005/3 ) A very good car and I learned a lot from it. I agree that we are the early adopters . Eventually more precise info will come forth. I think what I am seeking is substantiation of what I already know or at least suspect, but as of now this printed word does not exist. Good point Fuzzy1.
