Ok, after months and months of calculating and counting the fuel gauge, I think I've figured out how many kms/pip... at least during the summer. Now, this may apply to my car only or may apply to people with similar terrain/driving style as moi. 1st pip - depends on how much you've filled up. I've been getting 150-160kms 2nd-5th pip - 50kms each ± 5kms 6th-10th pip - 80kms each ± 5kms That'll give me a range of 700-760kms.
I think it really varies for everyone... on my current tank, my first pip disappeared after 120 miles (195km)! The next few were each after 40 miles (65km).
I think that might be on the conservatove side. I usually get a range of 830 km to 950 km by the time I get to one tick remaining. It would definitely have to be based on your terrain and drivign style. Mine is based on a 17 mile commute one way (so 35 round trip per day). I travel the first 5 miles at 35 mph, then the next 11 miles at 60 mph, and the final at 25 mph. This has lots of hills and at most 3 mi is flat. My first pip drops around 180 - 200 mi. I usually fill up until the first click then go to the first $0.25 increment. My 5th is usually around 250-300 miles. One would think that they could make the fuel gauge more accurate on such a high tech car.
