Does anyone know how that number is calculated by the car? It seems wrong based on the epa 50mpg and it doesn't match with my trip mpg, lifetime mpg, or the mpge of 95. Any ideas?

Mine seems to match up correctly. It takes the number of EV miles driven and divides it by 50.

That's strange, I'll have to double check, but the reason I was thinking about it was I had gone over 40 miles EV and had only "saved" .6 gallons of gas. I'll look the next time I'm in the car and update. Thanks for the info!

    Here is what I have:

    Recent trip:
    75 miles ev, 14kwh used, 1.2 gal saved (75/ 1.2 = 62.5 mpg) and (33.7/14 * 75 =180 mpge)
    and

    Lifetime:
    774 miles ev, 246kwh used, 20.5 gal saved (774/20.5 = 37.7 mpg) (33.7/246 * 774 = 106 mpge)

    so...... what?!?!.

For a particular trip meter, what does the computer say your actual MPG is?

51 lifetime and 55 now, so that's not it either

Hmm...that is a little odd. The recent trip works out pretty close though:

75 EV miles / 55 MPG = 1.36 gallons "saved", and your car is reporting 1.2. The lifetime number is off by quite a bit though, so not sure what's up with that. Maybe someone else can chime in?

I suspect what happens is the car tries to calculate it based on speeds etc and not just averages. So for example if your EV driving is primarily stop and go, you'd get a higher gas saved number.
    But who knows.
