Just had my best tank ever- went 1809 miles and 7.034 gallons to fill up my tank. But because Fuelly doesn't account for kwh, and having over 200 mpg shows up as an error, this was how I solved the issue. I subtracted about 450 miles driven, so that the mpg would show up, albeit lower than it was. I figured, that most often I will not get such a great range on a tank of gas, and the next month when I fill up, I will add the 450 miles back in the next tank. Therefore, the next tank will show higher than the mpg, and this one is lower.

Note: my last tank was 95 mpg. Oh yes, I am aware this isn't the correct way of stating my mpg, which really isn't mpg since there is kwh involved . . . and I am not even sure if saying MPGe would be correct either!

Mainly, I was wondering how any others who are showing the error for higher than 200 mpg, are resolving their issues with keeping record of fuel ups on fuelly.com?

Most people are ignoring the price they pay on Kwh in order to have the bragging rights of higher mpg*

The most organized people might be logging their estimated charging times and electricity costs in a spreadsheet.

I'm just ignoring # of Kwh used per tank, however I do reset EV / HV miles driven on each refill.

That is how many miles you're getting in a gallon of gas, right?
The dashboard display shows total kWh that the car's consumed since new. Hit the steering wheel buttons until "EV DRIVING RATIO" is displayed. It's resettable; there are settings 1 and 2. So you could reset at each fill up and thereby log the kWh consumed. This doesn't seem to count regenerative electricity, only electricity provided by vehicle charging.

Yes, that is the raw mpg, not factoring in any of the kwh. On the Spreadsheet from this Prius Chat forum, it shows that the EV miles/gas equivalent is 133.4 and the HV+EV mpg equivalent is 100.8. To be honest I don't totally understand what the EV mils/gas equivalent, HV+EV mpg equivalent means.

See above post (reply to priuskitty) for a further explanation.

I did not know that the EV driving ratio has settings one and two and is resettable- i think what i did mainly is keep my trip A and B separate- A is with each new fill up, and B is the running total. and what i have been doing from the EV Driving Ratio display, is I subtract all the previous amounts to get the current amount ? So it sounds like there is a simpler way. But I have already begun on this new fuel up, so I will try to figure out how to get from settings 1 and 2 in the driving ratio, and be ready to reset one of them next time around . . .

    Thanks!

yeah this was hard for me to grok as well, but for some odd reason, the EV driving ratio has separate tripmeters which must be reset independently of the "odometer" tripmeters. i guess this is why they named the two counters 1/2 as opposed to A/B, but I have to question the usefulness of having a separate counter there at all.

Miles per gallon Gas equivalent, MPGe is, is an energy based measure.. using total energy in the fuel. The Mile per gallon equivalent of the electric energy used by epa is 33.7/Kwh = 1 gallon). The EV MPGe is just your EV miles reported MPGe and the HV+EV MPGe is the combined overall. E.g the PiP in EPA testing was 95MPGe on the 11 miles, so your 100.8 overall is much better than EPA.

Your hack of splitting up the tank won't do you much good once your "average" is above 200MPG.. (I still enter data there but have pretty much given up on Fuely). I put the kWh in the comment/note field.

I definitely do that but how would you handle free charging ? eliminate ? I'd say 1/3 of all my charges are freebies

personally since even my home charge costs are puny compared to gas I don't really care
