I remember reading this tip somewhere but can't find it again for the life of me, so I thought I'd ask you all...please bear with me, as I'm a brand new Prius driver. When stopped, it's possible to push the brake down further. Upon doing so, I sometimes hear something that sounds a little like charging (or so I tell myself that's what it sounds like). Anyway, what is accomplished by fully depressing the brake when stopped? What is the car doing? Charging the battery?
The "charging" sound might be the brake accumulator pump pressurizing the system, it's normal. You can hear it every time you open the drivers door too.
Thanks, everyone. It's now obvious that it's not doing anything else to recharge. Thanks from an obvious newbie
