    2013 Prius 212k miles
Owner kept driving the car adding water and cylinder 4 decided to have delayed combustion until engine warmed up drying the plug enough to fire blowing the piston through the bottom of the engine

Any sense of how much coolant was being lost per day to cause this?

    And just Wow!

Soon as all the Cat thefts start to settle down a little with Gen2 Prius... Gen3 Prius is like, hold my beer and watch this... I can count on one hand the number of people with Gen3 engines that haven't failed them yet. Wonder if lawyers are gonna do a class action lawsuit?

Said twice weekly topping off with this one
With the other two I had one was the same every few days the other was daily topping off coolant
This will be my third this year all right over 200k and of course no egr service performed

I think Toyotas head-in-the-sand response bugs me more than the issue: they keep quiet while more’n more owners plow into this dumpster fire.

That's why egr maintenance is a priority as well as any other services on these
I've done more head gasket replacements on these than I'd like to admit

If Toyota's Warranty extension for the EGR issue had included gratis, thorough/complete EGR cleanings every 50K miles, I'd wager these head gasket failures would be gone.

Throw in the revised piston/rings, they'd have a decent engine.

Most definitely all it takes is a little antifreeze from a blown gasket and the rings and cylinder walls are washed out
