Sure is fun to look at stories like these from just two years ago. http://money.cnn.com/2004/03/30/pf/autos/s...rices/index.htm "Right now gasoline is still a long way from $3 a gallon. The AAA survey, updated every weekday, hit its sixth straight record Tuesday at $1.753. " ...ahhh, the good 'ole days. for even more 2004 nostalgia fun...check out the this link from within that article. http://money.cnn.com/2004/01/06/pf/autos/d...brids/index.htm It's titled: "GM: Hybrid Cars Make No Sense"
My favorite quote, from the article in the 2nd link... "Hybrids are an interesting curiosity and we will do some," he said. "But do they make sense at $1.50 a gallon? No, they do not."
The thing that bothers me the most about this is that everyone's screaming for lower prices, for the government to do something, but the gas guzzlers aren't looking at themselves for the solution. Lower consumption will bring the prices down. Drive slower and sensibly, get a smaller car and the prices will go down. From the LA Times today: "Although gasoline prices have caught motorists' attention, they haven't reined in their driving. "Americans have been burning significantly more gasoline -- 9.1 million barrels a day more over the last four weeks compared with the same period last year -- at a time when the nation's fuel supplies are below average, said Phil Flynn, senior market analyst at Alaron Trading Corp."
