I purchased a 2016 prius about a month ago. For the first few weeks when I'd come to a stop it, as expected the sound and vibrations of the engine would stop after a few moments. Recently, the engine will come back on while I'm still stopped, meaning the sound and vibration ceases then resumes. Sometimes, it won't switch over at all. Is this normal?
Completely normal. You will experience whistles, buzzess and dings at odd times. Most of the time it was the car reminding me of something I forgot to turn off. But seriously, you are ok.
In the summer, many of us run A/C, so run down the battery very rapidly. And the engine runs to recharge it. In winter, the engine will run to make hot water for the heater.
