Hi All, is there anyway to get a warning on the dashboard or by other means if any of the bulbs are blown? I got pulled over by the police recently as my tail light was out. Usually I have seen in my dad's mercedes he gets a warning on the dashboard as soon as any of the bulbs are gone.
No, the Prius doesn't have one I believe (not even UK spec ones). Perhaps another local owner can confirm. @Data Daedalus
all the computers in the most hi tech car of it's time, and you want warnings? ha! the only warning prius gives is when it shuts down in the middle of a busy freeway at 60 mph
No, sorry mate, it's just good old-fashioned checking of each lamp on a regular basis with these Gen 2s.
Realize a Prius is all about saving gas. With a Prius you get three times the mileage of your dads car for 1/3 the price. A separate current sensing circuit for very light bulb was part of the cost savings. Besides those circuits alarm when you change to leds.
Any pilot will tell you about how they're required to do a pre-flight inspection of the plane because you don't get a second chance to fix stuff if your plane goes bad way up in the sky. With a car you get way more chances to get it right, but a periodic pre-drive inspection is a great habit that could of prevented you from being pulled over. For checking light bulbs, it can be as easy as putting some small mirrors in the spot where you regularly park your car.
