Little help people. Noticed gas gauge on my Gen 4 Prius 3 Touring is divided into eight sections. Seems curious as both my 2009 and 2012 Prius were divided into ten sections. I am aware that the entire world, except the US is on the metric system which is based on tens. So my question is: Are all Gen 4 gas gauges divided into eight sections or only vehicles sold in US? And if all, why the change? Thanks for any help.
The EU version has also 8 marks, but I have seen all sorts of non decimal divisions. And honestly none of these meters are linear in showing fuel use and the only thing I really care about is the beep when reserve is reached
Well, the tank is actually 43L/9.46gal, so there is no connection between the markers and the quantity in either liters, gallons, decimal or binary notations... I think they used whatever they thought looked good...
You got IMPERIAL gallons. The US Toyota website says 11.3 US gal (but 43L would be 11.4 US gal - whatever).
My iPhone got imperial gallons... I simply looked for 43L in gallons and gave me imperial it seems... Well, 11.4 is also not a multiple in any way of 8. And when empty there are theoretically 3.4gal... Which is not the reserve...
