I have a customer that moved to Portland, OR. Can anyone recommend an independent Hybrid shop in the Portland area that is familiar/comfortable working on Gen1's?
Perhaps your best bet is Atomic Auto: 2510 NE Sandy Blvd Portland, OR 97232 (503) 969-3134 They began as a Saab specialist and still service primarily Saabs, but the owner is a proud Gen1 Prius owner and a friend of Carolyn at Luscious Garage in SF. While I haven't had any work done there, I've spoken with the proprietor and we chatted for some time about our mutual love for the Gen1. They work on any generation Prius. His shop is beta-testing software from the Luscious Garage for managing the books, estimates and shop details. He said I could safely make my Southwest road trip without worrying about the rear brakes, even though they had 260k on them (at least 5% left, so I'd planned to do them when I got back). Sadly, my Gen1 was totaled in Sedona last week, so I won't be getting those brakes done (no, the brakes were unrelated to the problem of a dolt crossing the median and hitting us head-on... thank you airbags!)
