I was looking for info on what impacts NiMH lifespan/performance and found this: http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/nickelmetalhydride_appman.pdf It appears your Web browser is not configured to display PDF files. No worries, just click here to download the PDF file.
What a coincidence. I've been doing much the same, largely to get a handle on how battery temperature affects operation and vice versa, and found this. I was going to post it in a new thread, but no need now.
I have the Sanyo battery manual on CD. They hand them out at trade shows, but you may be able to download it as well.
It probably has been posted before, but I ran across this today: http://www.nrel.gov/vehiclesandfuels/energystorage/pdfs/2a_2002_01_1962.pdf This is an NREL paper "Thermal Evaluation of Toyota Prius Battery Pack" related to the NHW11 vehicles. May as well link it along with the above documents since this gives some specifics on service temperatures and how the cooling system handles thermal management. Maximum operating temp is reported to be 55C.
