I love the dual glove compartment in the Gen3 Prius but none of the compartment has lock on it. There was a thread on this issue for the Gen2 back in 2006 but I thought Toyota should have taken customers suggestions more seriously and put a lock in one of the compartments in the Gen3. It is needed not just for psychological safety but if you have valet parking, you'd need to lock up your belongings (like portable GPS, digital camera, ipods etc.). And for some who didn't know back in 2006, normally the valet key could not open the compartment lock. Anyone who share my feeling???
yes, it's very strange...it is my first car without a locking glove compartment. I am adapting. What's even stranger is that the storage underneath the hatchback floor has two twist locks....Why?????
So that the floor doesn't fly off when you go over a speed bump too quickly. It's basically a fastener, not a lock. Yeah but the SKS has no valet key (unless you mean you give the valet the SKS fob but take the key out... but then the key ring is tied to the mechanical key... so they'll have to find another way of attaching the number to your fob.
Some people have installed after-market locks. I think I've only heard of it on the cargo area and that was for a gun locker. But I'm sure you can come up with something.
