Yep . . . just saw that too: BREAKING: General Motors to announce Chevy Volt pricing/ordering on Tuesday [w/poll] — Autoblog Here, they have a survey where you can guess how expensive it'll be. .
At a price of 40K they also claim they are going for Young Drivers? What Young Driver has 40K to buy a car?
Why Do people always have problems with Tax Credits? it's not that you don't have to Pay 7.5k in Taxes it means you don't have to pay the taxes on 7.5K (So Esentually 2K or less discount) So that 40K car is 38K.. Wow Affordable to young drivers now! Sorry I cant see people (Average) running out and buying these Vs a Toyota or a Honda Myself....
The $7500 is a credit, not a deduction. EVnow, how is AMT avoided ? I know it hit the Prius credit back in the day.
As mentioned on another thread, it's too bad GM/Volt declined/avoided/couldn't meet the AT-PZEV status ... because that would knock ANOTHER huge chuck of the price for those states that are following CARB emissions stats. .
I was just wondering about this. Is the Leaf going to have a 150k mile battery warranty ? And if not, does that mean the $5000 CA credit is off the table for them too ? Addendum: I peeked at http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/levprog/cleandoc/clean_2009_my_hev_tps_12-09.pdf It may be that the durability requirements imposed on plug-ins do not apply to ZEV.
Official Chevy Volt MSRP and Lease Price Unveiled $41,000 which is one thousand more than they were estimating before. It also requires premium gas. I expect those first 10K to sell or lease easily with all the rabid buyers. http://gas2.org/2010/03/15/californ...-launches-today-save-5000-on-an-electric-car/ Yes, the tax incentive will only go to about 800 vehicles, almost certainly each of those vehicles would have sold without the incentive except possibly some golf carts..
Toyota should bundle 40 miles range Winglet along with the Prius for $26k. It should fit nicely under rear cargo floor.
That's not going to happen soon. Maybe if they see gm and ford plug-ins selling they will do it for the 2015 my update. I'd really like them to just cooperate with a plug in conversion vendor and let us have a plug in pack with a factory warranty, and better software.
yes I did. Thought you were putting a battery in a wing tip device. The toyota winglet is really really lame.
I beleive there is some extra money allocated now or something like that (check leaf forum). In any case the CA rebate seems to be really badly targetted - not the federal rebate is great. Afterall GM got the rebate law written exactly to fit Volt (max rebate for 16 kwh battery ?!).
usbseawolf, where did you find the Volt transmission mechanics ? I'm still a bit incredulous that GM bastardized their failed HV design into what was supposed to be a clean serial design. I wonder how much of the poor CS mpg is explained by this choice.
Nissan U.S. Leaf Battery Car to Have 8-Year Warranty - BusinessWeek and many others says the Leaf's battery warranty is 8 years/100K miles.
