Well, this could make for some interesting cars. Perhaps some of Saab's endearing 'quirkiness' will be restored, now that they're not just another brand among many. Here's the story.
God.. as long as it's not associated with GM any more. What did GM do?? NOTHING. All it did was rebadge a Trailblazer and called it the 9-7x (what a diss to Saab owners) and converted an Impreza wagon and called it a 9-2x. What happened to the 9-5? I do not know. It looks the same since it was last redesigned in 1999. It had 3 updates. I've never seen a car with 3 updates before. I've seen two (03-07 Accord. It was updated in 05 then again in 06). The 9-3 SportCombi is a good idea (esp. since they killed the hatchback) but in the last 10 years, they were never competitive. If anyone wanted a Swedish car, there was only one company - Volvo.
I thought this was a fun read: Stop your Saabing - The Brand Graveyard - Salon.com The comments are virtually unanimous that GM destroyed whatever made a Saab a Saab.
