Can anyone recommend a good dealer in south east florida to get my brake actuator warrantied? I tried one local and they claim its my speed sensor which is utter nonsense and Toyota corporate is apparently the lamest manufacturer on the planet so I apparently need to handle this myself.
How do you figure that ANY part will be covered under warranty on a 12 year old car ? Assuming that your profile is correct.
If the problem is obvious and reproducible, just tell them that you won't pay for parts and labor to replace parts that do not fix the problem. And that you expect parts to be replaced ONE at a time; no shotgun efforts.
That's the problem. The problem is staring them in the face and they claiming it's something else instead of the Warranty part
If you are confident it's the warranty part that failed, just pay for the speed sensor first. If it doesn't fix your problem, ask for a refund.
I think you and I know there is no way you getting money back. The brake actuator runs every 3 seconds and has code 1256 and 1391. It's ludicrous to suggest it's the speed sensor and they say Toyota won't pay for it. Toyota is a joke to call so I'm trying to find a competent dealership
If the failure is a warranty part, they would need to refund you if they replace a good part that was replaced incorrectly. What you fail to understand is the procedures and diagnostic tree points to the speed sensor first.
The diagnostics actually points to the Brake Actuator given there are 2 codes for brake actuator and the TSB says replace brake actuator. It is insane to try to blame it on the speed sensor. If they can't figure that out, do you honestly believe they will refund the money after replacing the wrong part?
Rob, you could try Sun Toyota in Holiday if it's not too far away from you.. That's in the Tampa/St. Pete area. Toyota Dealer in Holiday, FL serving Tampa and Spring Hill | Sun Toyota My 2005 brake actuator was making a terrible racket. I took it in to see if they would change it under that warranty extension. They said they would be glad to do it if it was throwing a code, it it wasn't. They said Toyota "pays them well" to change those, but only if there is a code. Since you have a code, I would think they would do the job for you. They told me it would still work, so I should drive it till I get a code and then bring it in. In fact, they said there are things you can do to try to get it to throw a code if it's going to and they messed with it for an hour to no avail. When all was said and done, I got nothing fixed, but did get a free car wash and useful information.
Was replaced on Monday. Now I'm getting Over 50 mpg. Best before Was 49mpg. I am convinced they made up the code about the speed sensor previously because they brought it in late on Saturday and the tech didn't want to stay late.
I would've taken care of it for you at Royal Palm Toyota! 2016 Prius 4T Premium Convenience Pkg 2016 NX200t F Sport
