This weekend I said goodbye to my gen 1 Volt that I've had for about 10 years. It's been a bulletproof car but more modern features beckoned. I sold the Volt with an average of 238mpg over its lifetime of 105k miles. I hope it finds a new home that appreciates it like I did. It will be missed. But after about a year of waiting for the stars to align I took delivery of my first new car. A '25 PHEV XSE Premium in Windchill Pearl loaded including the solar roof. LOTS of exploring to do with features and settings yet to do to dial in the driving experience but I'm loving it so far.
Windchill Pearl? Lol... So many different names for white paint. Anyways, welcome to PriusChat... Not sure if a Gen5 is going to be as reliable as your Volt? Only time will tell...
That one is a pearlescent three-coat extra-cost paint actually; so, it deserves a mention. It does look very impressive, bright fluorescent in artificial light. I have never had a single reliability issue with my Gen 4 Prius Prime PHEV. I expect the Gen 5 reliability to be similar. You get more range with Gen 5 and TSS 3.0 vs. TSS 2.0 in mine. Handling is easier on Gen 5 as well, and you have some extra power if you ever need it.
I saw this exact car plugged in at a grocery-store parking lot at night. It looked like a luxury car with its pearlescent sparks, very nice wheel design, and tapering roof.
It's really a great car. When our 03 kicks the bucket, we're probably looking at an EV for my wife, and the prius becomes my daily once more. It was my daily for a year while she was on mat leave, and I miss it. Honestly, a second one wouldn't be the end of the world either. And we only have the SE prime, not the XSE premium experience.
