I'm Novacained up after getting a filling replaced a few hours ago and now my chin itches - but when I try to scratch there it's as if I'm scratching through a thick rubber sheet: my finger feels the chin, but the chin is dead to sensation (except for that damn itch) - so no relief! What a weird (and tooth gritting) frustration (hope I don't wreck all that expensive dental work gritting my teeth until the Novacain wears off)! What's even worse - there's no matching tooth gritted emoticon to cap this lament with! O woe, what a world, what a world!
I'm with ya, kid. I remember that feeling. Be very careful drinking anything hot - you'll either burn your tongue or end up wearing it all down your shirt. If it's itchy, at least that means it's wearing off. You might prefer that to the pain, I do not know.

I can relate. The area under my incision is numb...at the margin of the numb part and where I have intact sensation itches, presumably due to the partial sensation and the mixed signal going to the brain it's being translated into some other familiar sensation. And yea, scratching is useless.
