Supposedly, NY has a "green" EZ pass for hybrids that gives a 10% toll reduction. I have mailed in the information required by the website, then after 4 weeks without any response I called "customer service" where a very helpful lady told me they couldn't convert my regular to a green EZ pass over the phone, but that I should fax the information to a specific Albany EZ pass office. Did that, now three weeks later I still don't have a green EZ pass. Does anyone have a recent successful process to obtain the green EZ Pass in NY? It seems that they are willfully just ignoring my application for this (perhaps that's how they'll balance the budget!) Thanks, Tony
Go to one of their office and they can do it on the spot. If I recall, they just ask for registration.
I have the green ez pass. What they do is close your present account and open a green account. Then they send you the balance from the regular account in a few weeks. I received the green ez pass in the mail but had to go to an ez pass service center to have the account closed and open and fund a green account. BTW, my green port Authority ez pass has a $1.00 monthly fee. My last regular now closed account didn't have any monthly fee.
I am going to the local EZ pass station with mine to get the green discount... Monday.. will inform what happens
I switched over my regular EZ-Pass to the green one with out any inconveniences, this was over a year ago. Did it over the phone and in a couple of weeks, the "green" showed up by USPS delivery. I have a $5.00 surcharge for it, I think.
