    Irish redwoods @2. That is nifty. Seeds themselves cost about nothing; the trick is to have your forest go uncut for several hundreds of years. A faster 'giant' is Eucalyptus regnans (Mountain ash). With enough sunshine (Ireland??) they could be a nice tourist attraction in 100-150 years.

    An excellent project for anyone with a long view. Majestic forests may be quite a novelty in 22nd century.

    After previous ice age but before agriculture etc., Earth's forests must have been simply amazing. But no buzzkill here; this thread is a happy place.
