From 2009 through 2018, June air T averages were from -9.4 to -14.2 oC there with no trend through time. So a June 2019 June air T average of +1 oC does rather stand out.
There was a gentle trend. When a polar vortex or load of Arctic air descended into the lower 48, we often saw a temperature rise in Alaska and Greenland. It was almost as if tropical air reached more Northern latitudes when Arctic air wander South. But this June data is exceptional. Bob Wilson
My first thought is someone put the temperature sensor in a glass jar. More likely a new sensor or web setup. . . . or perhaps an interior temperature? Regardless, I found the traditional web site looking for the webcams: summit:status:weather Around June 13, temperature appeared to reach 0C. FYI, the webcams do not show a lake at Camp Summit. Official long-term summit measurements are many, and imply serious attention to detail: Instruments | Summit Station and they do not agree with 'timeanddate' in terms of temperature. T&D ,in turn, get data from: Syndicated Content for complete global weather coverage Who might respond to methodological questions. I assume Bob was joking about thermometer in a jar.
I was joking but I was also thinking of Dept of Agriculture scientists being deported to Kansas. So if someone wanted to joke back . . . a glass jar over a thermometer would be my style. Bob Wilson
