I purchased my 2013 Prius V used in October 2014. I have really enjoyed using the bluetooth for phone calls. Up until about a week ago it has operated flawlessly. All of a sudden, it can't seem to get any of my commands correct. For instance, when I say "Call Amy White" it calls Emily White. I can try over and over and it will alternate between calling Emily White or some random four digit number. Granted Amy and Emily sound very similar but my bluetooth has never mixed them up before this past week. Another mix-up is between names that are not so similar: Monty and Steven. It always calls the same wrong person or a random four digit number. I am so frustrated because my bluetooth has not dialed a single call correctly out of dozens of attempts in the past week. What is going on and how can I fix it? ***I restored my phone last week which is probably what started this problem. I paired it with the bluetooth without any issues. Incoming calls or calls that I manually dial have no issues. Thanks for your help/suggestions, Elizabeth
Delete your phonebook from the car, delete the phone from the car, and then re-pair the phone with the car. This often resolves issues that come up when something changes on the phone.
Make sure the fan is no more than medium and have the windows closed. Background noise will do what you are seeing. Also speak fast rather than slow. Occasionally you might want to rename the "wrong" name if it is too close in sound, but the fan noise is probably the #1 issue.
Thanks everyone. It is now fixed. Somehow all of my contacts multiplied 3-4 times when I restored my phone. I think it was throwing everything off. I deleted all of the duplicates, unpaired my phone from the bluetooth, repaired the car and phone, and refreshed the phonebook. Good as new!
