Hardwiring A dash cam without fusebox?

    Hey fam.

    Anyone succeed with a hardwire dash cam installation without having to hardwire into the fuse box? Can I not split a wire and just run the positive and negative wire that way?

    I just tapped into an empty fuse. Used the "hot" side. It only comes on when in the ready mode.
    If you tape into a wire that's hot all the time, the camera will be on all the time.
