I've always hated that transporting anything long in the Prius (and keeping the hatch open while driving) means that incessant beeping is going to be going on for the whole drive. After driving a TV two hours with that going on, I had enough. Well, really it only took 30 seconds to fuel my hatred, but you get the idea.

I don't know if anyone has done this yet, but here's my solution: a 3D printed part to shove into the latch that makes the Prius think the door is closed. Simply press the open button on the hatch to release it when you're done. It's not technical, but I haven't yet seen anyone else make one.

As I cannot post links yet, if you would like to make it you will have to go to the website Printables and search for my username, Zdencsious.

Print it out at your local library or friend who has a 3D Printer. If you don't have access to a printer, I might be willing to mail you one that I've printed. Only because I know how annoying this beeping is.

    Enjoy

What type of feed did you use? How hard/soft? Is it flexable?
I could use this! Thanks! My son has a 3d printer...

I used regular PLA filament, which is the most common. It's stiff and strong (as far as plastic goes) and is more than enough for this application. There's almost no force being applied to it, so it can be made with most anything, but I'd stay away from the flexible filaments (TPU). Whatever filament your son has should be good. I used dark grey to match with my interior, but I think a vibrant color would be good too, so you can easily see where it is.
