I occasionally need to carry 10 or 12 foot lengths of lumber for various projects around the house. It's no problem carrying them with the hatch partially open, held down by a bungee. The problem is that my local Home Center is 30 miles from my house, and driving 45 minutes with the incessant beep of the hatch open warning can drive you nuts. Does anyone know of either an electronic or mechanical way to shut the warning beep off? Thanks
With the hatch open, look into the oval that the upper hatch "loop" goes into. inside, you will see the black catch mechanism. With a flat-blade screwdriver, press it to the right twice. This will shut off the beeps. CAUTION: When you are done hauling lumber, be sure to press the normal hatch release button TWICE to return the catch to the open position.
